So the project I'm on at work has been announced, I'm allowed to say the title now, and it's ME2. I still can't tell you anything about it, but there you go ;)

I picked up Left 4 Dead last night. I've been meaning to for awhile, as I started following the game almost a year before release, because the concept really caught my interest. Playing the Demo that came out on X-box live cinched it. I've mostly been holding off based on wanting either PC, or X-Box versions. But a few more friends are getting it for the PC and that cinched it.

It's a game that requires co-op play, though you can play by yourself with bots controlling the other three, that's not really what it's about. I havn't played much, really only the levels that were in the demo, but the game intelligently generates the zombie horde based on what is going on with the player, which keeps the same areas surprisingly fresh.

One thing that really stood out to me last night though was the impressive directional audio. It's really just dead spot on playing with headphones, and when a massive wave of zombies is heading your way, you can hear the building sound, and have an idea of what door they are going to be coming through, it adds, in my opinion, a lot to the game.

Anyhow, it's good stuff, Valve is one of the few primarily PC developers that keep it, in my opinion, a viable gaming platform, and I have total respect for them and their work. If anyone else has this, by all means send me a shout, and we'll go shoot up some zombies.

I do not wish to go to work today. Not for the usual reason, I'm fine with work itself. I do not wish to go outside. We've had a really nice few days here, where the temperature has been between -4 and +8, but today it's back down to -18, with a windchill that brings it closer to -30, lot of wind today, and I can see it whipping the dead trees out in the courtyard. It's going to be nightmarish cold out there, no thank you ;)

Just a general 'I'm alive' update, things are going well, if not super exciting. I admit filling my free time feels rough right now, as I've somewhat gotten pretty bored with WoW, and I think I'm finally about done with it. I still have Fallout 3 to get though, but finishing that up will leave me with another gap.

OMG I have a journal. Who knew? I know, I'm super awesome about keeping it updated. So let's take a moment and try to place more or less where we're at, as I think my last entry was closer to my birthday.

I am living comfortably in Canada, I think we've covered this part already. Anna and I are no longer living with room-mates, it's just she and I though, our relationship has migrated back to 'just friends', which I have to say, really works for me these days. I have my own room, my own space, and honestly, in a relationship space, I'm not good at living independantly, so being out of a relationship frees me up a lot more for me time. I realise it's a self inflicted barrier, but I feel like my time should be all about them in a relationship, so I think I'm a bit mentally healthier out of one, no matter how much I think it makes me happy.

I was working for TD bank, which was a really great job that I was having fun with, unfortunatley they had to let me go due to my lack of credit history in Canada, which causes a conflict working with a bank. There was a big nonsensecle to do about it, but I think that too worked out for the very best for me. On a whim I applied to Bioware, makers of such games as Baulder's gate, Mass Effect, and Knights of the Old Republic, to name a few. Needless to say, I got a job in QA which starts soon. It means in basic, I'll be game testing, for less pay then I would be getting elsewhere, but I think it'll be a really fantastic experience, so I'm very excited for it.

My free time is not as much as usual lately, but what I have of it has spent a great deal of time with Fallout 3, a little bit of WoW, though honestly not as much as I had anticipated with this new expansion. It simultaneously managed to accomplish everything I hoped for, while at the same time going completely meh. I don't thikn it's a fault of the game so much as, I think I've just been playing WoW too long, and could use something new.

I'm also playing in a tabletop game, using the system Riddle of Steel. I've never played under this system before, and it's quite good for a number of little reasons. Not the best I've ever played, but good, and fun.

Home life is pretty awesome, I love Anna having a proper kitchen, it means she bakes and cooks all the time, and she's made some really great meals. it's hardly something she has to do, but I always appreciate when she does. The fellow she's dating is over a lot, and I consider him these days to be a good friend. I think he's a really great choice for her, and I hope that things go well for them, I think it could. No one needs my approval, but there it is anyway.

That said, I'm going to wrap up, there are some things I'd still like to do more with my life, particular, I'd like to make more time with my friends. I barely ever see Jon, I'm going to go hang out with Adam tonight, but even like a weekly Laser Tag could go a long way.

Last point, my GID, there have been several successful outings lately, but I'm not sure how I feel coming off of them. I'll save that for another post, but my thoughts are mixed on it.

Happy new year.

Just another general post. Life still pretty decent. Today was payday, I like my job, WoW is fun, I have good friends. Obviously things are never perfect, but on the whole, woo ;) I'll be home a little late this evening due to errand running. And tomorrow I heard something about dungeons and or dragons. Then it should be a nice relaxing weekend.

1:00 pm - Just one of those days.
Having one of those days today, the bathroom being occupied half the morning so I couldn't get my wake up shower, barely flagging down the bus as it pulled away. Overstressing about salad. Getting a papercut right on the tip of a finger at the start of the day. Three hours later getting a second paper cut directly across the first papercut (If you think a papercut on it's own hurts? You don't even know). Getting a pile of files I didn't really understand and stressing about those trying to make sure I got them right.

All that said, I'm in a pretty good mood today, and in general, life is good, I enjoy my job, I've been having fun with my free time. If my biggest stresses are getting my work sorted right, and weather or not the salad in the fridge is going to expire before we eat it, I figure I'm doing okay. May do a 'state of the gender' type post sometime soon, but that's a whole other adventure. Just something to touch on since I'm just about twenty six now.

Whew, some kind of day so far. On the bad side, my knee, back, and neck are all upset at me for various reasons. The jelly I put on my sandwich for breakfast this morning has gone bad, so while I only took a few bites before realising how off it was, my stomach is less then pleased with me. It also kind of hindered my plans for lunch today, but what I've got should do.

On the upswing though, I've taken muscle relaxants which have delt with back and neck, and today has been super busy. I only just now at 1:00pm finished my morning stuff, usually it's done by 10:00am, but we got a lot. So it kept me nice and busy. I feel like I've only been at work an hour and a half or so, but my day is more then half done, so woo, I'm having a good one :)

Also, to Anna, I did a few dishes this morning on my way out, not much, but a few plates, cups, bowls, silverware, so you have something clean if you need it today :) See you tonight.

Random pet peeve of the day: Elevator 'close door' buttons.

Particularly the people who push it. The elevator doors close on their own after about 5 seconds on your average elevator if no one does anything. Five seconds is not a long time to wait for them to close on their own, but it can mean the difference for someone running to try to catch the elevator. This pet peeve does not come from me as the 'elevator run tooer' hell, if I was that person, I'd never know someone hit the door close. It's as someone riding the elevator with them, it irritates me whenever I see someone push it when I'm riding with them. They may save themselves five seconds, but they could have just cost someone else the wait it takes for another elevator. Learn some patience.

Also bad news Anna. No Star Wars tonight. I'm pretty crushed, but I suppose we'll live and move on.

Oh my, an entry. Basically, on breaks or at lunch at work I'm allowed to use my computer for internets, but gmail is blocked, so this would be my only source of outside contact. This will work better in the future when people expect me on to chat, since right now odds are not good people will run across my post and get chatty during my current lunch break (it's 12:34 now though and it ends at 1:30, so who knows).

Sorry for the lack of update after the chaos earlier last week. I ended up managing to get through, I am now living once more in Edmonton, and sure as hell glad to be. I've missed this place a lot, and all my old friends here. Going to miss people back in San Diego, but I'm really glad to be back where I consider to be 'home' these days. For all of my friends up here I haven't seen yet, feel free to hit me up by e-mail or comment, we should make plans to hang out.

10:06 pm - Dear journal
Today the DS browser gets to earn its keep. I'm stuck in a dive motel in the middle of nowhere, at least tonight, and all things depending, maybe tomorrow or more. I am now a resident of Canada and welcome to enter and live. My car is not. So I'm in a place thirty miles from the border not able to come in. Well...I can if I got a ride or something, but I can't drive in. If I show them a certified copy of the title I can go in. So tomorrow I have to call the leinholder and see if they will give me one. If they will, I have to have them overnight it to this dive so I can cross on Thursday. If they wont...well, I've learned how to be such a difficult customer that a manager gives you what you want. Guess I'll have to use that. Otherwise, screwed, this close. Free wireless here at least. DS browser go.

current mood: tired
